Selected Bibliography
Since the publication of Daughters of the Stone, many readers have written to express an interest in the history and socio-cultural implications of slavery on Puerto Rican society. As a result of these requests, I provide this limited bibliography on the topic. As the novel goes beyond slavery to touch on the immigration and acculturation of the Afro-Puerto Rican family in the U.S., I am also including books that provide insight into the Afro-Latino experience in the United States. I hope this will provide a richer background for those readers who wish to delve into the historical aspects of Daughters of the Stone.
